You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?

Ayden has a few new tricks. He likes to talk on the phone. So he holds an object that resembles a phone to his ear and just blabbers on. The next thing I know, he is going to be asking for a cell phone. Hello?

Ayden has been walking for a while now, but I haven't posted the video of some of the early steps so here it is:

Why do we buy toys?

My child plays with his toys for about oh-two seconds compared to all of the things that he shouldn't be playing with. He has been caught red-handed many times.

Exhibit A: As mentioned in one of my previous posts, he loves playing with tampons-I know gross. And I let him do it. It is one thing that will entertain him while I am doing my hair!

Exhibit B: The laudry. Sure go ahead and play with the dirty laundry or unfolded clean clothes all you want. But no-it is the clothing that I have already folded that he wants.

Exhibit C: The plants. Heaven help me-the plants! We have three big potted plants on the main floor and Ayden loves eating the dirt or just throwing it on the floor. Kipp threatens once a day: "We are getting rid of the plants!" Once I see that he is over at the plant AGAIN-I call Ayden's name and he starts panting like a dog and goes into turbo speed pulling out all of the dirt that he can before I make it over to him.

Exhibit D: The cupboards. Not a big deal. I can handle the cupboards. And it looks like I am going to have to continue handling the cupboards because Kipp tried to put on the child safety latches-got one somewhat done and decided that it was too hard. Needless to say the right side under the sink has a latch and that is all.

So it is obvious that children are drawn to what you take away from them. I think I am going to start taking his toys from him saying "no, no" while I do it, and see if that does the job.

The Little Monster

I thought I would update you on what our little man is up to.

Right now he waves a the camera when I go to take a picture. The result: hand covering the face in the pic

He also makes a new face. I think that this one came about because of the runny nose that he has had. Whether he is trying to let it run in his mouth or thinks it is just funny-I will never know. This particular picture of his new face was taken after he ate lunch from the flower pot in the living room.

He is more mobile than ever. (He took a record breaking 24 steps in a row today without assistance) We are finding him in all sorts of places in the house. One being in his old car seat that he likes to climb in and out of.
Ayden enjoys flushing toilets, playing with mom's tampons, pulling his food out of his mouth to look only to put it back in, swinging and many more activities.

I like my meat well done

This last Wednesday I decided that I would BBQ some chicken before I had to go to work. Well, needless to say, I have never lit our BBQ before. The ignitor wouldn't work the first time I tried to light it so I tried several times before turning it off in frustration. (Keep in mind that I am in a hurry to do this before I need to leave to work and Kipp is still not home from work) I then notice that there is another ignitor-turning the grill back on I switch the ignitor. POOF! Flames in my face. My hands fly to my face first. Seems to be okay-just a little warm. Then to the hair. CRISPY! All of the hair that frames my face singed! I need to leave for work in 20 minutes. I slam the chicken on the grill and run for the scissors. Although I cut a lot of hair off-it was still obviously singed. What do I do? I can't call in to work saying that I will be late because I am not hurt-just ugly and smelly. So off to work I went. (I called my friend on my way telling her that I will need an emergency haircut the following day) So my hair continues to get shorter and shorter.

Pioneer Day

I had a client at the hospital who was saying that the 24th really isn't a holiday. What an idiot! I love Pioneer Day, plus who complains about having the day off? We started off the 24th by going to the Days of '47 Parade. I thing that this is the first year that Kipp has come since we have been married. He always find a good excuse like golfing. This year-no excuse. My brother Ryan was babysitting his girlfriend's dog. His name is Theo and Ayden was a big fan. Makes me want to get a dog-until I remember that they poop. Pass! I had to work that night so after the parade we took a quick nap. We went for a quick dip in the neighborhood pool and then off to work. Ayden and Kipp stayed home and watched fireworks.

My mom and Kipp enjoying the great seats that we got (better than the people that spent the night)!We thought that Theo might enjoy a stroller ride. I don't know if Theo liked it, but Ayden sure enjoyed having him there.

The Great Outdoors

We had a ball at girls camp! We have such fun, wonderful girls and leaders. The theme this year was: "Sweet is the Work of Angels" so each ward chose a candy to be. Our girls chose M&M's. We were also assigned the value good works, so M&M stood for "making miracles." It was fun to have all of the memories from girls camp come rushing back to me. I wasn't always able to go to camp because of dance-so I think I am having to make up some of the years I missed as an adult!

We of course had camp T-shirts and we also made matching flip-flops.Here we are with the Bishop just after dinner. I love dutch oven cooking-delicious!The funniest part of camp had to be the ride home. These mannequin heads were part of our mascot at camp. On the way home one of our Young Women had them sticking out of the sun roof. Driving behind them looked hilarious and watching the other car's reactions on the road was even better. Funny girl! We had a great time!

Lake Powell

We had a wonderful time in Lake Powell. We spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the fabulous weather and water. Here are Kipp and Ayden getting ready to go on Ayden's first jet ski ride.

Ayden cried every time we put him in the water-little stinker! But by the end of the week he only cried for the first minute as long as we got him in the shade.

Eating junk food and playing games-an essential part of Powell. Yahtzee was the hit of the trip.

Just being a cheese ball! The only thing he would eat the entire week was fruit. Imagine the diapers!

Chillaxin'

Most of Ayden's trip was spent in a diaper. He loves being naked!
